Orifice flanges are mechanical rims used in several industries for a number of different applications. They are generally used in conjunction with orifice meters. These devices help measure the flow rate of both gases as well as liquids in respective pipelines. Two orifice flanges are also sometimes referred to as orifice flange unions. The drop in pressure of the flow through an orifice plate is measured with the help of two pipe taps provided on each flange. However, flanges are not present on the orifice plates. These plates come in different sizes based on the application on which they are used. The flanges are spread apart with the help of two jack screws. This helps change the orifice plate easily. You can choose from different types of orifice flanges such as threaded, weld neck, and slip-on flanges. All these flanges feature a raised face and are installed in a straight run or pipe.
