Weld Neck Flange
A weld neck flange is distinguished by its tapered hubs. Thus, this flange is also known as a tapered hub flange or a high-hub flange. Generally, the neck of the flange is welded to the pipe. This helps transfer the stress from the flange to the pipe. Also, it helps reduce the stress build up from the hub base. Weld neck flanges are used in applications involving high pressure, high temperature or stress. These flanges are designed to match the diameter of the pipe.
